Happy New Year and welcome to the first blog post of 2019.

To all our lovely loyal customers I wish you a prosperous and healthy 2019. To all of those of you yet to become customers – I wish you the same and hope you join our herd soon!

Christmas is a odd time of the year and polarises opinion, some people love it and others really dislike it. As my kids are now teenagers I am reminded that for me anyway Christmas is about children, young children who still see the magic and goodwill message in the festive holiday. As they and I get older I am left thinking there should be “more”.

New Year’s Eve for me is about looking forward and perhaps spending a little time contemplating the year just gone. I’m not a big one for New Year’s resolutions although I historically do “dry January” – much to the amusement of the rest of the herd who I am sure have a sweep stake on how many days I will last before “giving in” to an ice cold beer! This year you lot – I will make 31 days!

The Shelter Christmas crackers we had at our Christmas party really touched a nerve. https://www.shelter.org.uk. I found myself thinking about homeless people quite a bit over Christmas and have decided in 2019 – not just at Christmas, I am going to help.

I see homeless people everywhere I travel, not just in the UK. I am going to take some of my time to help Shelter in London to help genuine homeless people. I am not going to “throw change” at beggars (some of whom I know to be complete charlatans with mobile phones and doubtless comfy accommodation).

My mission in 2019 is to ensure that Christmas spirit or my childhood endures throughout 2019 in a meaningful way. I will keep you updated on my progress and invite any of you to lend a hand.
